Letter Bee manga licensed

Manga publisher Viz Media has acquired the manga Tegami Bachi (also known as Letter Bee). Even better the manga will be serialized in Shounen Jump in March 2009. Tegami Bachi is serialized in Shueisha’s Shounen Square/Monthly Shonen Jump in Japan and is currently on going.

The story is of couriers known as Tegami Bachi send and deliver important letters and items accross Amber Ground, a land of never ending dusk. Very detailed and lush art on every page. Covers and colored artwork included have a creative blend of colors setting the mood. It may seem a little like D.Gray-Man at first, but the adventure is much more fun. At then end you have poor Dr. Tunderland giving explanations and background of each volume.

The characters in this Soul Eater opening are drawn much more street smart and at certain parts, more cute like. Pay attention for Chorna’s segment.

There’s also going to be an upcoming new feature to Anime Gerad and various new sub-forums. Stay tuned.

Lagoon Engine

Tokyopop has just announced they cancelled Lagoon Engine. No volumes six and seven. Someone should stick it to them by making the manga crazy popular even though it’ll go unfinished in English.

Lagoon Engine stars two brothers who can’t reveal their real names. They go by Yen and Jin Ragun and their duty is to defeat spirits called maga. Yen is focused, calm, and rational while his brother is implusive and fine with running into a fight that he might not win. To defeat maga they have maga of their own. Yen’s is Koga (of a type able to gather information) and Jin’s is Sora (all power and no brain).

The battles in Lagoon Engine are special. A barrier must first be created to make it so both sides cannot see each other and neither side knows the others name. Once a side guesses or discovers the other sides name they can see them and be able to wipe out their opponent. As the story develops there are people who don’t fight maga, but have other uses for them. Along the way you come across other beings and family members of the Ragun brothers.

Lagoon Engine is worth much for its subtle hints and the many battles. At least DNAngel volume twelve is coming, as it was released in Japan June 16th. Maybe.

Not like you can avoid him? Ater a while he learns he has feelings for Tsubomi in return.

Naisho no Tsubomi

Hakaba Kitarou is without suprise the annoying bully like character who just happens to be the blonde boy. He’s also only main character in the circle that has a male voice actor. Kitarou is a pervert who’s teasing has made little Kato concerned about staying cute and thin. He’s easy to relate to because many people including myself treat others they like kinda the same way. Always pushing buttons, bringing shocking bits of news, and name calling for attention.

Naisho no Tsubomi

If you’re interested in watching Naisho no Tsubomi, the fansub group Underwater makes it very clear they don’t like VLC player. There’s special coding that covers the whole screen asking why you’re still using it and that it sucks. It’ll show you what’s being said, but it’s not worth it.

Characters are drawn very modern and casual with even some wearing baggy pants. Expectations of Naisho no Tsubomi was that the anime would be too blunt or educational. Mention something perverted though, you get everyone’s attention. Mostly from boys. And there’s several mildly pervert bits to this anime like Tsubomi getting dressed.

Mardock Scramble is a canceled OVA anime adaptation of a novel by the animation company Gonzo Digimation. After seeing the trailer you may think of Last Exile. Natural for you to think of Last Exile because Yasufumi Soejima was the director along with other similar staff. This unfinished anime was put to an end after Gonzo was experiencing financial troubles in 2006, even though Mardock Scramble was suppose to be the anime to celebrate Gonzo’s 15 anniversary.

The story of the novels takes place in a city called Mardock. The past comes after the future and incredible technology becomes outlawed. Such technology and restrictions have begun to cause wars and violence. A young woman named Ruun Ballot becomes a target for hunters after a certain tech was deemed harmful and banned.

This anime switched from a television series to a DVD release after being announced couple years before. Already a poor sign. This anime must have had much money put into it as well. Either costs for the quality were really high or there was a lack of direction.
